In the past year I launched my new website, became more selective (and therefore more happy/productive) with my projects, put out some of my best work yet, got one of the best testimonials of all time, and celebrated/reflected on my five-year business-versary.
Of all the highs of 2013, the best things were the direct by-products of relationships and connections with inspirational and entrepreneurial women that grew and were forged this year and will continue to thrive into the next year and beyond.
Adelaide Lancaster
I’ve known and have worked with Adelaide for several years now (and officially joined her amazing In Good Company (IGC) two years ago), but 2013 was the year we really got to get down to business together. This spring I got to revamp In Good Company’s brand identity with a new logo, website, and look for social media. We had barely launched when we began to work on her new nonprofit venture aimed at empowering women in business, Elevate, launching a visual identity and website this summer. Adelaide is a mentor and inspiration, as well as a picture-perfect client… I’m still blushing from the testimonial she shared with me:
“I love working with Cody. My dream job would be to come up with a hundred business ideas and then hire her to design for each of them. She is a total pleasure to work with and I LOVE her aesthetic. In short, I wouldn’t work with anyone else; there wasn’t one downside.”
Justine Clay
Justine of Pitch Perfect works with creative professionals in a place of transition, whether they’re just starting out or changing their focus. I met Justine early this year when she reached out to me after Adelaide shared a newsletter post of mine on IGC’s Facebook page. We hit it off right away and began to plot ways we could work together. In addition to helping Justine with some of her design needs, I’ve been working her one-on-one Transition package and she’s been helping me to better clarify my goals as well as push me out of my comfort zone (which we all need time to time).
Evi Abeler
Evi is yet another In Good Company connection. An award-winning photographer, Evi and I met through the Creative Professionals Affinity Group and became co-chairs early this year. I quickly became a huge fan of her work and when it was time to redo my website, I knew she was the one. Not only did she work with me to create the beautiful background image of my site (styled by the also amazingly talented Vanessa Boer, another woman I’m lucky to have in my life), she also created the animated image of me on my homepage. Since then we’ve collaborated on several other projects for clients of mine, for her, and for me… Most recently, a beautiful new video about the Loki Loki process.
As 2013 draws to a close, part of me is sad to see it go… It’s been a really, really great year. On the other hand, if this fabulous momentum and fun collaboration continues into 2014, I say bring it on!
Cheers!
Cody
