I designed these custom (cheeky) notecards as a thank you gift for my client, psychotherapist Heather Karaman, for referring a new client to me.
Not only is Heather one of the few people I know who actually writes hand-written cards, it’s something I know was on her wish list for her practice.
Some people have referral policies in place, but I’ve never found that to be a great motivator—someone is going to recommend me because they had a great experience, not to get a gift. But, trust me—an unexpected gift is always welcome!
As someone whose business is primarily based on word-of-mouth referrals, I do know how important those are and I want to make sure everyone knows how much I appreciate their kind words and support. I do try to find something I know they’ll enjoy and if it’s a client, I like to make it something extra and special that might be helpful for their business.
Do you send referral gifts? What do you do to say thank you for a referral? And/or what’s the best referral gift you’ve ever gotten?
