Coworking at The Wing
I have a home office that I work out of most days, and while I appreciate the ten second “commute” to my desk (as do my clients, I’m sure—the less time I’m traveling, the more time I’m working!), it’s nice to have another option for holding meetings, getting work done on days my son is home, or just a change of scenery.
The reason I chose The Wing specifically is because it offers so much more than a desk away from home: the events are amazing (I’ve learned calligraphy, met the leaders of the Women’s March, planted a terrarium with The Sill, and tonight I’m learning how to podcast), the scenery is inspiring (as a brand identity designer, it’s very on-brand for me to be in a chic space), and the community is unmatched—they are my peers, my neighbors, and even some of my idols, and many are also my ideal clients and collaborators (I focus on brand identity design for woman-owned businesses).
As a designer I typically need the equipment I have at home, but when I’m able to set a day aside for phone calls, emails, a meeting or two over coffee, and some errands, I love the atmosphere at The Wing; being around so many woman-identifying movers-and-shakers is invigorating. On top of all the above, there are fabulous products in the beauty rooms, a lot of different options for seating, a lactation room (I’m no longer nursing, but I love knowing it’s there!), decent food options, great playlists, everyone is super friendly, and between the Breydo candles and fresh flowers, it even smells great.
My amazing assistant, who also writes for e-magazine Beauty and Well-Being, interviewed me about my experiences at The Wing in her feature on coworking spaces:
I feel really strongly about The Wing’s mission and the comfortable space and community they created for working women and am more than happy to share it with you too! Please feel free to get in touch if you’d like to visit any of The Wing’s NYC locations (Flatiron, SoHo, or DUMBO) and see it for yourself!
